AK Bycatch Task Force provides final recommendations

Task Force unveils recommendations on bycatch research, state engagement, management and “committee recommendations with rationales.”

Public meeting set for Oct. 12 in Anchorage

The Alaska Bycatch Review Task Force has met 40 times since January. This week it revealed the recommendations from its four committees focusing on: Western Alaska salmon, Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska crab, Gulf of Alaska halibut and salmon, and Science, Technology and Innovation.

Here is the link to the committee research priorities and recommendations along with the many presentations provided during the meetings.

The task force will hold an in-person “meet and greet” on October 11 from 5:30 – 7pm at the Egan Center in Anchorage.

That’s followed by a task force meeting with Zoom links the next day, October 12, starting at 9am at the same location.
